For nearly five decades, the Pittsburgh Leadership Foundation has carried a simple but bold vision.

In 1978, founder Reid Carpenter was inspired by the words of Rev. Sam Shoemaker:

“I have a vision that Pittsburgh will one day be as famous for God as it is (today) for steel.”

30 Days of Pittsburgh Prays is a continuation of that vision.

For 30 days, churches, leaders, families, and communities across our region will unite in intentional, focused prayer for Pittsburgh—believing that when God’s people come together in humility and faith, He moves in powerful ways.

A City United in Prayer

Pittsburgh Prays is not new.

PLF has long brought leaders together through gatherings like the Greater Pittsburgh Community Leaders Prayer Breakfast and the National Day of Prayer. These moments have strengthened relationships across churches, businesses, nonprofits, and civic leadership.

Now, we’re inviting the entire city to step into that same spirit of unity—for 30 focused days.

This is not about one church.

Not one denomination.

Not one organization.

It is about seeking God together for the good of Pittsburgh.

WHY 30 DAYS?

Transformation in a city does not begin with programs. It begins with prayer.
For 30 consecutive days, participants will receive:
  • A daily prayer focus (families, schools, business leaders, vulnerable communities, first responders, churches, and more)
  • Scripture to guide reflection
  • A short, practical prompt to pray individually or in groups
  • Opportunities to gather with others across the city
Whether you pray at your kitchen table, in your office, with your staff team, or during a Sunday service, you are joining a citywide movement of faith.
